ABOUT OUR COMPANY
The company was established in 1949 as John B. Van Dusen Land Surveying, serving
the Glens Falls-Lake George, New York area. Five years later, Leon Steves joined
the company after serving four years in the United States Air Force, during which
time he was introduced to the science and art of surveying. In 1981, Leon became
a partner and the company adopted the new name of Van Dusen & Steves. When John
retired in 1984, Leon became the sole proprietor of the company, leaving the name
unchanged. He operated the business alone until 1997 when his son, Matthew Steves,
became a partner. Leon retired the following year and Matthew has been the sole
proprietor since.
Today, Van Dusen & Steves is a full-service land surveying company with a staff of
16 full-time employees dedicated to providing the highest quality of work available
today. Recent projects include work for municipalities, schools, developers, contractors,
and private individual across the entire Upstate New York region, and GPS/GIS control
surveying throughout the Eastern United States.
